Pop-up Exhibition January 21-22, 2023

A monoprint is one in a variable edition where each print is unique but has a repeated common element. Drawings and collage materials create a “collagraph master” which is transferred to a gelatin plate. The image on the gelatin plate is back painted and textured to create multiple layers before pulling a print. The “collagraph master” may be used multiple times.

Corresponding with a two-day workshop, Collagraph Gelatin Plate Monoprints is a pop-up show by artists who have collaborated with me in the past. Next to each artist’s monoprint series is their “collagraph master.” A Bic pen makes embossed lines combined with torn papers, magazine text, masking tape, and other collage materials. The transfer medium is Amsterdam black acrylic paint rolled out thinly on the gelatin plate.
